Key Features & Benefits

Certification, output flexibility, and real-time monitoring — everything a professional installation demands in a compact, field-proven package.

ETL

Listed to UL 458 & CSA 22.2 — Certified for Commercial Use

Third-party ETL certification to UL 458 Standards and CSA C22.2 No. 107.1-01 means this inverter meets the safety requirements for OEM vehicle installations, fleet upfitting, bus and van manufacturers, and commercial applications where a listed product is mandatory.

GFCI

20A Resettable GFCI Outlet — User and Equipment Protection

The built-in 20A GFCI outlet trips automatically if a ground fault is detected, protecting users and connected equipment. If it trips, a simple button press resets the outlet and restores power — no tools required.

2,000W

Continuous Power with 4,000W Surge

Delivers a full 2,000 watts continuously at 16A AC output, with 4,000 watts of surge capacity to handle the high startup draw of motors, compressors, refrigerators, and power tools without interruption.

Hardwire

Direct-Connect AC Terminal Block — Full-Power Hardwired Output

The AC terminal block lets you hardwire the inverter directly to a load — delivering the full 2,000-watt output to a single dedicated circuit. Ideal for permanently wired appliances, equipment panels, or installations where a plug-in outlet is not practical.

Digital

Digital Display & LED Monitoring — Real-Time System Status

A digital display combined with LED monitoring lights gives you live visibility into inverter status and fault conditions, so you can diagnose and respond to issues quickly without guesswork.

90%

Efficient Aluminum-Case Design

At 90% efficiency, less battery energy is wasted as heat. The aluminum case actively dissipates thermal load, and the thermally controlled cooling fan runs only when needed — keeping operation quiet at light loads and the internal components cool under sustained use.

Pre-Slotted Mounting Plate — Designed for Permanent Professional Installs

The included pre-slotted mounting plate makes it straightforward to secure the inverter to a chassis, wall, or equipment shelf without fabricating a custom bracket. Combined with the aluminum case and direct-connect terminal block, this inverter is engineered for installations that need to stay put — service trucks, emergency vehicles, bus and van conversions, and permanent off-grid power systems.

Note on modified sine wave: This inverter produces a modified (stepped) sine wave, suitable for most resistive loads, tools, pumps, motors, and standard appliances. Some sensitive electronics — including certain TVs, audio equipment, and variable-speed motor controls — may experience interference or reduced performance. If you require a clean sine wave for sensitive equipment, consider AIMS Power's pure sine wave inverter line.

Who This Inverter Is For

  • OEM vehicle upfitters and fleet operators who require a UL 458 / CSA-listed inverter for commercial vehicle installations, government contracts, or warranty compliance.
  • Bus, van, and ambulance manufacturers building out onboard power systems where third-party safety certification is a specification requirement.
  • Work truck and service vehicle operators who need dependable 2,000W AC power for tools and equipment with the added safety of a resettable GFCI outlet.
  • RV owners and van lifers who want a higher-output, certified inverter for running larger appliances — microwaves, air compressors, small AC units — from a 12V house battery bank.
  • Off-grid solar system builders who need a reliable DC-to-AC inverter with robust protection and enough output to run a full range of cabin or homestead appliances.
  • Emergency and backup power users who want a certified, professionally specified inverter that can be hardwired to a critical load panel via the AC terminal block.

AIMS Power 2000W ETL Inverter — Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this inverter require ETL listing and what does it mean for my installation?

ETL listing by Intertek means this inverter has been independently tested and certified to conform to UL 458 Standards and CSA Standard C22.2 No. 107.1-01. For OEM vehicle upfitters, commercial fleet operators, ambulance and bus manufacturers, and government contracts, a UL 458 listed inverter is often a code or specification requirement. It also provides assurance that the product has passed third-party safety evaluation — not just manufacturer self-certification.

What is the GFCI outlet and when would it trip?

The 20A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet monitors the difference in current between the hot and neutral conductors. If it detects a leakage current — such as a ground fault in a connected appliance or from moisture — it trips instantly to cut power and prevent electric shock. It functions identically to the GFCI outlets required in bathrooms and kitchens by electrical code. If it trips, pressing the reset button on the outlet face restores power once the fault condition is cleared.

How does the AC terminal block differ from the GFCI outlet?

The AC direct-connect terminal block allows you to hardwire the inverter's output directly to a load or sub-panel, rather than using a plug-in outlet. This is useful for permanently installed appliances, dedicated equipment circuits, or enclosure builds where running a cord to a socket is impractical. The terminal block delivers the full 2,000-watt output to a single hardwired circuit. Use appropriately rated wire and follow local electrical codes when making hardwired connections.

What can I run on 2,000 watts with 4,000W surge?

At 2,000 watts continuous, you can power most household appliances and professional tools — a microwave, coffee maker, electric skillet, power drill, circular saw, sump pump, or small refrigerator. The 4,000-watt surge handles the higher startup draw of motor-driven equipment like compressors, pumps, and refrigerators. Always check the running and startup wattage ratings of your equipment; do not exceed 2,000 watts total continuous load.

What battery bank size do I need to run this inverter?

At full 2,000W load, the inverter draws approximately 166A DC from a 12V battery bank. A single group 31 or 8D battery will not sustain full load for long — for extended operation, a bank of multiple deep-cycle batteries is strongly recommended. For solar or off-grid systems, size your battery bank and charging source to match your expected daily load and desired run time. Heavier loads require proportionally larger battery banks.

What fuse and cables are required?

The inverter includes internal fuse protection. An appropriately rated external inline fuse or circuit breaker on the DC battery cables is also strongly recommended for safety and code compliance, sized to the cable gauge and installation requirements. DC battery cables are sold separately. At 166A DC draw at full load, use heavy-gauge cable — undersized wiring causes dangerous voltage drop and heat buildup. AIMS Power sells compatible UL-listed cables.

What is modified sine wave and does it matter for my application?

Modified sine wave is a stepped approximation of utility AC power. It works well for most resistive loads, power tools, pumps, motors, heaters, and standard appliances. Some sensitive electronics — certain TVs, audio equipment, medical devices, and variable-speed drives — may experience interference or reduced performance. For sensitive electronics, consider AIMS Power's pure sine wave inverter line.

What warranty and support come with this inverter?

This inverter is covered by a 2-year parts and labor warranty and includes lifetime technical support from AIMS Power at no charge. Purchasing through TrueStead Supply as an authorized dealer ensures your warranty is fully supported by the manufacturer.
