5000 Watts of 240V AC From a 12V Battery — Power Well Pumps, Tools & Off-Grid Equipment Without a Generator

Single-phase 240V AC output only — not 120V, not split-phase. Built for well pumps, heavy tools, and 240V appliances in off-grid cabins, ranches, work vehicles, and backup power systems.

The AIMS Power 5000 Watt 12V DC to 240V AC Modified Sine Wave Inverter (PWRINV5K24012W) converts 12V DC battery power into single-phase 240V AC at a sustained 5000 watts — with 10,000-watt peak surge capacity. This is a dedicated 240V inverter: it will not produce 120V AC and is not a split-phase unit. It is purpose-built for loads that require full 240V single-phase power — off-grid well pumps, submersible pumps, 240V power tools, compressors, and heavy appliances in cabins, ranches, and mobile work environments. Front-panel volt and amp meters, dual 240V receptacles, and a direct-connect terminal block make it as practical to monitor as it is to install.

Important: This inverter outputs 240V AC single-phase only. It will not produce 120V AC and cannot be split into two 120V legs. If you need 120V AC output, see the AIMS Power PWRINV500012W 5000W 120V inverter instead.

Key Features & Benefits

The PWRINV5K24012W delivers high-capacity 240V power from a standard 12V battery system — with the monitoring tools, output flexibility, and protection features demanded by off-grid and mobile power applications.

240V AC

Single-Phase 240V Output

Dedicated single-phase 240V AC output powers well pumps, submersible pumps, 240V tools, and heavy appliances that can't run on 120V — directly from a 12V battery bank, no generator required.

5000W / 10,000W

Continuous + Surge Output

Run 240V loads continuously at 5000 watts with 10,000-watt peak surge capacity to handle the high inrush current of pump and motor startups.

V + A Meters

Live Battery & Load Monitoring

Front-panel digital volt and amp meters display your battery voltage and current draw in real time — giving you direct visibility into battery state and remaining runtime at any load.

12V Compatible

No Vehicle Modifications Required

Runs from any standard 12V vehicle battery system — no expensive electrical upgrades needed. Ideal for fleet vehicles, service trucks, RVs, and boats where a factory 12V system is already in place.

>90%

High Conversion Efficiency

Greater than 90% conversion efficiency, with a no-load idle draw under 1A — this inverter maximizes usable power from your battery bank and conserves charge during standby.

Dual Outlets + Direct-Connect Terminal Block

Two 240V AC receptacles let you plug in equipment directly, while the AC direct-connect terminal block allows permanent hardwiring for a single load — delivering the inverter's full 5000W output to a well pump, compressor, or other hardwired equipment. Each AC outlet is rated for a maximum of 1500W per socket; the terminal block can carry the full continuous output for hardwired applications.

Remote-Ready, Mountable, and Thermally Managed

The unit comes pre-wired for an optional remote on/off switch, so you can power it on and off from the cab of a vehicle or a remote panel without reaching the inverter. A pre-slotted mounting plate in the rugged aluminum case enables secure wall, floor, or vehicle-frame installation. The thermally controlled cooling fan only spins when internal temperatures warrant it, keeping the unit quiet during lighter loads.

Who the AIMS Power 5000W 240V Inverter Is For

  • Off-grid cabin and homestead owners who need to run a 240V well pump or submersible pump from a 12V solar battery bank — without a generator or grid connection.
  • Ranch and agricultural operators needing reliable 240V power for water pumps, irrigation equipment, and heavy tools in remote locations far from utility power.
  • Work truck and construction vehicle operators who need 240V AC on the job site from the vehicle's existing 12V battery — without carrying a separate generator.
  • Mobile business operators — food trucks, mobile kitchens, service vehicles — requiring 240V for commercial equipment in a quiet, emission-free package.
  • Marine and boat operators needing 240V AC single-phase power from a 12V DC battery bank for onboard tools or appliances.
  • Emergency and backup power users with a 240V well pump or critical 240V loads who need battery-backed AC power during outages — note that 240V single-phase only applies here.

AIMS Power 5000W 240V Inverter — Frequently Asked Questions

Does this inverter produce 120V AC? Can I use it for standard US household outlets?

No. The PWRINV5K24012W produces 240V AC single-phase output only. It will not output 120V AC under any configuration. For standard US 120V AC applications, see the AIMS Power PWRINV500012W 5000W 120V inverter instead.

Is this a split-phase inverter? Can I pull one 120V leg from the 240V output?

No. This is a single-phase 240V inverter only. It is not capable of providing two separate 120V legs, and you cannot pull 120V AC from one side of the output. If you need split-phase 120/240V output, AIMS Power offers separate split-phase inverter charger models.

Can this inverter power an off-grid well pump or submersible pump?

Yes — this is one of the most common applications for this inverter. It is well-suited for 240V single-phase well pumps and submersible pumps that fall within its continuous and surge capacity. The 10,000-watt surge (for approximately 40 milliseconds) helps handle motor startup inrush current. Verify your pump's running wattage and startup surge requirements against the inverter's ratings before purchase, and use the direct-connect terminal block for hardwired pump installations.

What battery and cable size do I need?

The manufacturer recommends 4/0 AWG DC cables, sold separately. At full 5000W output from a 12V battery, DC current draw will be very high, so short cable runs and a large-capacity battery bank (300Ah or more at 12V, AGM or lithium) are recommended for meaningful sustained runtime. An appropriately rated external inline ANL fuse is also required and sold separately — the unit's internal ATC 40A fuse is for internal protection only and does not substitute for an external cable fuse.

What does modified sine wave mean, and does it matter for pumps and motors?

Modified sine wave output produces a stepped approximation of a pure sine wave. It works well with most motors, pumps, compressors, power tools, and resistive loads — the primary use cases for this 240V inverter. Some electronically sensitive devices (variable-speed drives, certain medical equipment, audio gear) may not perform optimally on modified sine wave. For purely motor and pump applications at 240V, modified sine wave is generally suitable.

What protections are built in, and how does the auto reset work?

Built-in protections include over-temperature shutdown (above 55°C / 131°F), overload protection, AC output short-circuit protection, internal fuse protection, low-voltage alarm (10.5V) and shutdown (10.0V), and high-voltage alarm and protection (17V). Front-panel LED indicators signal over-temperature and overload faults. Most fault conditions trigger an automatic reset once the fault clears — for example, once the inverter cools or an overload is removed — without requiring manual intervention.

Does this work with a standard 12V vehicle electrical system?

Yes — one of the key advantages of this inverter is that it operates from any standard 12V vehicle battery system without requiring modifications to the vehicle's factory wiring. It accepts 10–15V DC input, covering the normal operating range of a 12V lead-acid or lithium battery. At full output the DC current draw is very high, so a dedicated deep-cycle battery bank separate from the vehicle's starting battery is strongly recommended for sustained operation.

What warranty and support come with this inverter?

This inverter is backed by a 2-year manufacturer warranty from date of purchase against manufacturer defects, plus free lifetime technical support from AIMS Power's dedicated tech team. As an authorized AIMS Power dealer, TrueStead Supply ensures your warranty is valid from day one.
