230V AC From Your 12V Vehicle Battery — UK Type G Plug, 50Hz, Ready to Use Straight From the Cigarette Lighter

Compact and cable-included — powers laptops, phone chargers, small tools, and electronics at 230V/50Hz for UK and European appliances directly from any standard 12V vehicle battery.

The AIMS Power 400 Watt European Modified Sine Wave Inverter with Cables (PUK40012230W) converts 12V DC battery power into 230V AC at 50Hz — the standard for the UK, Europe, and Africa. A UK Type G 3-prong outlet, an included cigarette lighter cable with built-in fuse, isolated ground neutral, and a compact aluminum case make it a ready-to-use solution for vehicles, boats, cabins, and small off-grid setups. This unit will not produce 120V AC and is not compatible with US power systems.

Important: This inverter outputs 230V AC at 50Hz only — it is not compatible with US 120V/60Hz appliances or power systems. When using the included cigarette lighter cable, note that a vehicle's cigarette lighter socket is rated for up to 180 watts maximum — loads above 180W require a direct battery connection.

Key Features & Benefits

Compact, cable-included, and purpose-built for 12V to 230V/50Hz conversion — the PUK40012230W is the straightforward choice for UK and European mobile and off-grid power needs.

230V / 50Hz

UK and European Standard Output

Outputs 230V AC at 50Hz with a UK Type G 3-prong receptacle — accepts UK plugs directly. No adapters needed for UK or compatible European appliances. Not compatible with US power systems.

Cables Included

Ready to Use From the Vehicle

A cigarette lighter cable with built-in fuse is included — plug directly into a vehicle's 12V socket and you're running. For loads above 180W, connect directly to the battery terminals instead.

Isolated GN

Isolated Ground Neutral

An isolated ground neutral protects against ground loops and galvanic corrosion in marine and professional installations, and is compatible with many international installation safety standards.

Who the AIMS Power 400W European Inverter Is For

  • UK and European vehicle owners who need 230V AC for laptops, phone chargers, small tools, or electronics on the road — straight from the cigarette lighter for loads under 180W.
  • Boat and marine operators with a 12V system needing a compact 230V source for onboard devices, where isolated ground neutral is important for safety.
  • Off-grid cabin and solar system owners in the UK, Europe, or Africa who need a small, affordable 230V AC output from a 12V battery bank.
  • Mobile workers and travelers in markets using UK/European plugs who need reliable 230V power in a vehicle or remote location without a mains connection.

AIMS Power 400W European Inverter — Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this inverter with US appliances or in the United States?

No. This inverter outputs 230V AC at 50Hz — the UK and European standard. US appliances operate on 120V AC at 60Hz; connecting them to this inverter will damage or destroy them. For US 120V/60Hz power, see AIMS Power's standard US-market inverter range.

The cigarette lighter cable is included — why can it only handle 180 watts?

A vehicle's cigarette lighter socket is a fused circuit typically rated at 15–20A at 12V, which limits it to around 180W before the vehicle's fuse blows. The inverter itself can handle up to 400W continuous — for loads between 180W and 400W, you need to connect the inverter directly to the vehicle's 12V battery terminals using appropriately rated DC cables instead of the cigarette lighter socket.

What small appliances and devices can this run?

At 400W continuous, this inverter can power laptops, mobile phone and tablet chargers, small fans, LED and fluorescent lights, small televisions, portable radios, power tool battery chargers, and similar low-to-mid draw devices that run on 230V/50Hz power. It will not sustain electric kettles, toasters, hair dryers, or microwave ovens, which typically draw 800W–2000W. Always check the running wattage of your device before connecting.

What does isolated ground neutral mean on this inverter?

Isolated ground neutral means the AC output's neutral is not bonded to the DC chassis ground. This is a safety requirement in many marine, industrial, and international installations — it prevents galvanic corrosion on boats and avoids ground fault issues in multi-device setups. Most standard appliance use is unaffected, but if your installation requires a bonded neutral (for example, with certain RCD breakers), consult a qualified electrician about the correct approach for your system.
