Key Features & Benefits

Engineered for demanding environments, the Core Mini combines smart battery management, rugged construction, and a compact form factor that opens up installation options lead-acid simply can't match.

200A

Heavy-Duty BMS — More Protection Than Typical 100A Systems

The built-in 200A battery management system guards against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, and short circuits. A 380A peak discharge rating (10 seconds) handles the surge demand of microwaves, inverters, and motors without flinching.

Auto

Low-Temperature Cut-Off — Hands-Free Winter Protection

The BMS automatically pauses charging below 32°F (0°C) and discharging below -4°F (-20°C), preventing cold-weather cell damage without any manual intervention. You stay focused on the adventure; the battery handles itself.

5,000+

Deep Cycles — Up to 10× Longer Life Than Lead-Acid

Grade-A prismatic LiFePO4 cells deliver 5,000+ cycles at 80% depth of discharge, compared to the 300–500 cycles typical of lead-acid batteries. Over a decade of daily use is realistic, dramatically reducing your cost-per-cycle.

21%

Smaller Footprint — Fits 8D & 4D Battery Boxes

At 15.12 × 7.64 × 9.96 in, the Core Mini is 21% more compact than comparable LFP batteries and one-third the size of an equivalent lead-acid unit. It fits standard 8D and 4D battery enclosures, freeing up space and simplifying installs in tight RV and marine compartments.

IP65

Waterproof & Vibration-Resistant — Built for the Outdoors

An IP65-rated enclosure combined with metal cell spacers resists moisture, dust, and the constant vibration of rough roads and choppy water. Whether you're crossing a rutted trail or riding ocean swells, the internals stay protected.

99%

Round-Trip Efficiency — More Stored Energy Reaches Your Loads

A 99% round-trip efficiency and less than 3% monthly self-discharge mean nearly every watt your solar panels or charger puts in is available when you need it. Compare that to lead-acid, which typically loses 15–20% per round-trip cycle.

Renogy 12V 200Ah LiFePO4 Core Mini — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the actual usable capacity of this battery?

The battery has a rated capacity of 200Ah and listed energy of 2,560Wh. Actual usable energy depends on system settings, inverter efficiency, load demand, temperature, wiring, and the selected depth of discharge. Renogy lists the cycle-life rating at 5,000 cycles under 80% depth of discharge and 80% end-of-life test conditions.

How does the low-temperature protection work, and does it replace a self-heating battery?

The BMS automatically cuts off charging when cell temperature drops below 32°F (0°C) and cuts off discharging below -4°F (-20°C), preventing cold-induced cell damage. This is a protective cut-off, not active heating — the battery will not charge in sub-freezing conditions until it warms up. If you need to charge in cold environments without waiting, consider Renogy's self-heating Pro Series battery instead. For cold-weather camping where you're generating heat inside the vehicle, this battery's automatic protection is typically sufficient.

Can I connect multiple Core Mini batteries in series or parallel?

Yes. You can connect up to four batteries in series (for 24V, 36V, or 48V systems) and up to four in parallel (to expand total capacity). The maximum supported configuration is 4S4P — four in series and four in parallel — yielding a maximum bank of 40.96kWh. When wiring multiple batteries, use cables of identical length and gauge on all connections to ensure balanced current distribution.

Does this battery have Bluetooth monitoring built in?

No — the Core Mini does not include Bluetooth connectivity and is not compatible with the Renogy Bluetooth module. For real-time monitoring of voltage, current, and state of charge, pair it with the Renogy 300A Battery Shunt (sold separately), which connects to the Renogy app or a compatible Renogy ONE Core display.

Will this battery fit in my existing battery box?

The Core Mini measures 15.12 × 7.64 × 9.96 in (384 × 194 × 253 mm) and is designed to fit standard 8D and 4D battery enclosures. Renogy recommends maintaining a clearance of at least 1.97–3.94 in (5–10 cm) above the battery and at least 7.87 in (20 cm) on the busbar side for ventilation and easy connection access.

What charger or solar charge controller is compatible with this battery?

Use a charger, DC-DC charger, or solar charge controller that is compatible with lithium iron phosphate batteries. Do not connect solar panels directly to the battery without a properly sized solar charge controller. The battery accepts up to 100A maximum continuous charge current, with a listed voltage range of 10V to 14.6V.

How does the Core Mini compare to a 12V 200Ah lead-acid battery?

The Core Mini is physically about one-third the size of a comparable 12V 200Ah lead-acid battery and significantly lighter. Because LiFePO4 supports 100% DOD versus the 50% practical limit of lead-acid, you effectively get twice the usable energy from the same rated capacity. The round-trip efficiency of 99% versus roughly 80–85% for lead-acid means less energy is wasted per charge cycle. Lead-acid batteries typically last 300–500 cycles; the Core Mini is rated for 5,000+ cycles, making it substantially more economical over its service life despite a higher upfront cost.

What is the peak discharge current, and can this battery run high-draw appliances like a microwave?

The battery supports a continuous discharge of 200A and a peak discharge of 380A for up to 10 seconds. When paired with an appropriately sized pure sine wave inverter, this is sufficient to handle the high startup surge of appliances like microwaves, refrigerators, and air compressors. Always size your inverter and wiring to the battery's output rating and your appliance's startup current requirements.
