Key Features & Benefits

N-Type cells, a 16-busbar design, and a reinforced aluminum frame combine to make these panels a reliable, long-term performer across RV rooftops, off-grid cabins, and mobile power setups.

25%

N-Type Cell Efficiency — More Output, Less Space

N-Type monocrystalline cells achieve up to 25% cell efficiency, delivering up to 20W more power than a comparably sized p-PERC panel — a meaningful gain when your roof space is fixed.

16BB

16-Busbar Design — Higher Conversion, Fewer Microcracks

Sixteen busbars reduce internal electrical resistance and distribute mechanical stress across the cell, increasing power density while minimizing the risk of microcracks over years of vibration and thermal cycling.

−0.29%/°C

Low Temperature Coefficient — Steady Power in the Heat

A temperature coefficient of −0.29%/°C means these panels lose significantly less output on hot summer days compared to standard p-PERC panels — an important advantage for desert RVers and rooftop installs with minimal airflow.

99%

Charge Controller Compatibility — Works With Your Existing Setup

With an open-circuit voltage of just 22.79V — well under 25V — these panels are compatible with the vast majority of MPPT and PWM charge controllers on the market, so you can drop them into your existing system without worrying about input voltage limits.

8% Lighter

Compact & Lightweight — Easier Install, More Room to Expand

Each panel weighs just 13 lbs (5.9 kg) and is 11% smaller in footprint than an equivalent p-PERC 100W panel — making installation easier and leaving more roof real estate open for additional panels down the road.

IP65/IP67

All-Weather Construction — Sealed for Years of Outdoor Use

An IP65-rated junction box and IP67-rated solar connectors keep moisture out in rain, humidity, and wash-downs. The aluminum alloy frame (over 1.1 mm thick) is engineered to handle snow loads up to 5,400 Pa and wind loads up to 2,400 Pa.

Renogy 100W N-Type Solar Panel (RSP100DCx2) — Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between N-Type and P-Type (PERC) solar panels?

N-Type silicon has fewer impurities than p-type PERC silicon, which results in higher cell efficiency, a lower temperature coefficient (less output lost on hot days), better low-light performance, and a longer useful lifespan due to reduced light-induced degradation (LID). In practical terms, you get more usable energy per square foot over the life of the panel.

The product says "25% efficiency" but the spec table shows 20% module efficiency — which is correct?

Both are accurate but measure different things. The 25% figure is the N-Type cell efficiency — how efficiently the solar cells themselves convert sunlight. The 20% figure is the module efficiency — the power output relative to the total panel area, including the frame and gaps. Module efficiency is always lower than cell efficiency because the frame takes up space that produces no power. Both numbers are verified from manufacturer and dealer sources.

Will these panels work with my existing MPPT or PWM charge controller?

Almost certainly yes. With an open-circuit voltage (Voc) of 22.79V, these panels are compatible with 99% of MPPT and PWM charge controllers on the market. Before connecting, verify that your controller's maximum PV input voltage exceeds 22.79V for a single panel (or a multiple of 22.79V if you plan to wire panels in series).

Can I wire the two panels in series or in parallel?

Yes to both. Wiring in series doubles the voltage (approximately 45.58V combined Voc) while keeping current the same — useful for longer wire runs or 24V systems. Wiring in parallel doubles the current while keeping voltage the same — useful for 12V systems or when your charge controller has a lower maximum input voltage. Always confirm your charge controller's maximum input voltage and current ratings before choosing a wiring configuration.

What system voltage are these panels designed for?

Each panel is optimized for use in 12V systems, with a maximum system voltage of 600V DC. This means you can connect multiple panels in series for higher-voltage (24V, 48V) systems as well, up to that 600V DC ceiling.

What mounting hardware do I need, and is it included?

Mounting hardware is not included. The panels have pre-drilled holes on the back that are compatible with Renogy Z-brackets, corner mounts, and tilt mounts, all of which are available separately. If you are mounting these on a flat RV roof, Z-brackets are the most common choice. Tilt mounts can improve output on fixed installations by angling the panels toward the sun.

How do these panels perform in partial shade or cloudy conditions?

N-Type cells generally outperform p-PERC cells in low-light and overcast conditions, producing a higher percentage of their rated output when sunlight is diffuse. However, like all standard (non-bypass-diode-optimized) panels, output can drop significantly when part of the panel is shaded. If partial shading is a consistent issue for your installation, consider a panel with individual cell-level optimization or a microinverter setup.

What size charge controller do I need for two of these panels?

For two panels wired in parallel into a 12V battery system, the combined short-circuit current (Isc) is approximately 10.62A. A 20A MPPT charge controller provides comfortable headroom. For a 24V battery system with the panels in series, a 10A MPPT controller is sufficient. Always size your controller to handle at least 25% more than the calculated maximum panel current to account for real-world conditions.

How much power can I realistically expect per day from these two panels?

Real-world daily output depends on your location, season, panel orientation, and shading. As a general estimate, in an area with 4–5 peak sun hours per day, two 100W panels (200W total) can produce roughly 600–800 Wh (0.6–0.8 kWh) of usable energy per day after accounting for system losses. In high-sun areas with optimal tilt, output can be higher; in northern or overcast climates it will be lower.

Are these panels weatherproof? Can they handle rain, snow, and high winds?

Yes. The IP65-rated junction box and IP67-rated connectors seal out moisture in rain and wash-downs. The anodized aluminum alloy frame (over 1.1 mm thick) is rated for snow loads up to 5,400 Pa and wind loads up to 2,400 Pa, making these panels suitable for rooftop use in most North American climates, including areas with heavy snowfall.

What type of connectors do the panels use, and are extension cables included?

The panels use industry-standard IP67-rated solar (MC4-compatible) connectors. Extension cables and adapter kits are not included and are sold separately. When purchasing cables, ensure they are rated for outdoor solar use and sized appropriately for your run length to minimize voltage drop.

What is the warranty on these panels?

Renogy provides a 10-year material and workmanship warranty and a 25-year output warranty. Because TrueStead Supply is an authorized Renogy dealer, the full manufacturer warranty applies to panels purchased here.

Can I expand my system beyond these two panels later?

Yes. The RSP100DC panels are part of Renogy's wider N-Type solar panel ecosystem and can be connected in series or parallel with additional RSP100DC panels (or other panels with matching electrical characteristics). Be sure your charge controller's input voltage and current limits support your expanded array before adding more panels.

How do the RSP100DC N-Type panels compare to Renogy's older p-PERC 100W panels?

According to Renogy, the N-Type RSP100DC delivers up to 20W more power than a comparably sized p-PERC 100W panel, is approximately 8% lighter, and occupies about 11% less footprint — meaning you can fit more power in less space. The lower temperature coefficient (−0.29%/°C vs. typically −0.35%/°C or more for p-PERC) also means less power loss on hot days. The trade-off is a higher upfront cost per panel relative to older p-PERC options.
