5000 Watts From a 24V Battery at Half the DC Current of a 12V Equivalent — The Efficient Choice for Solar, Buses, and High-Draw Commercial Systems

Four AC outlets, a direct-connect terminal block, flat-plate DC terminals for single or dual cable sets, and front-panel volt and amp meters — purpose-built for 24V power sources where lower DC current and higher system efficiency matter.

The AIMS Power 5000 Watt 24V Modified Sine Wave Inverter (PWRINV500024W) converts 24V DC battery power into 120V AC at a continuous 5000 watts — with 10,000-watt peak surge capacity for motor and compressor startups. Running at 24V rather than 12V halves the DC current draw at equivalent output, reducing cable losses, heat, and wiring complexity in high-load systems. Flat-plate DC terminals accept lugged cables in flexible single or dual cable configurations. Four AC receptacles plus an AC direct-connect terminal block give you the outlet flexibility to run multiple loads or hardwire heavy equipment directly to the inverter's full output.

Key Features & Benefits

The PWRINV500024W brings 24V efficiency, flexible DC termination, and practical output capacity together in a compact, mountable chassis that has been refined over nearly a decade of off-grid and mobile power use.

24V / ~208A

Half the DC Current of a 12V System

At 24V, this inverter draws roughly half the DC current of an equivalent 12V model at the same output — reducing cable losses, heat, and required conductor size, and making it the natural fit for buses, coaches, larger solar systems, and commercial 24V architectures.

5000W / 10,000W

Continuous + Surge Output

5000 watts of continuous AC output with 10,000-watt peak surge capacity — enough to start refrigeration compressors, pumps, air conditioning units, and heavy tools that demand extra current at startup.

4 Outlets

Quad Receptacle + Terminal Block

Four 3-prong AC receptacles plus a re-positioned AC direct-connect terminal block for permanent hardwiring. All outlets share the inverter's full 5000W capacity. Add a splitter for additional plug positions. Each outlet is UL-rated for 1500W individually.

Flat-Plate DC

Flexible DC Cable Termination

Flat-plate positive and negative DC terminals accept lugged cables in single or multiple cable configurations — adapting to most DC cable types and giving installers flexibility in how they route and connect battery cables.

V + A Meters

Live Battery & Load Monitoring

Front-panel volt and amp meters give you real-time visibility into battery voltage and DC current draw — so you can track battery state and know exactly how hard your battery bank is working at any load.

90% / 95%

Efficient at Every Load Level

90% efficient at full load and 95% at one-third load, with a no-load draw under 0.4A — maximizing usable energy from your battery bank whether running heavy loads or light overnight draws.

Remote-Ready and Built for Permanent Installation

The PWRINV500024W comes pre-wired for an optional remote on/off switch, letting you power the inverter on and off from a dash panel or remote location without accessing the unit. A pre-slotted mounting plate in the rugged aluminum case allows permanent bolted installation on walls, floors, or vehicle frames. The thermally controlled cooling fan only engages when the inverter's temperature warrants it, keeping standby operation quiet. Most fault conditions trigger an automatic reset once the fault clears — no manual intervention required in most cases.

  • Commercial vehicle and fleet operators — vans, trucks, work vehicles — running 24V systems who need high-capacity AC output for tools and equipment on the job.
  • Mobile business operators — food trucks, mobile kitchens, contractor vehicles — using 24V battery architectures who need AC power for commercial equipment without the noise and emissions of a generator.
  • RV and van conversion builders who chose a 24V battery system for their build and need a compact, high-output inverter to match.
  • Marine operators with 24V DC systems who need 5000W of 120V AC output for onboard equipment and want the lower DC current draw that 24V operation provides.

AIMS Power 5000W 24V Inverter — Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose the 24V version over the 12V 5000W inverter?

At 5000W output, a 24V inverter draws approximately half the DC current of its 12V counterpart — roughly 208A at 24V versus 417A+ at 12V. Lower DC current means less heat in cables, reduced voltage drop, thinner conductor requirements, and better efficiency through the wiring system. If your vehicle, solar bank, or installation already operates at 24V — as many buses, coaches, and commercial vehicles do — the 24V model is the direct match without requiring any additional voltage conversion hardware.

Will this inverter work with a 12V battery system?

No. The PWRINV500024W requires a 24V DC input — its operating voltage range is 20–32V DC. It will not operate on a 12V battery system. For 12V applications at 5000W, see the AIMS Power PWRINV500012W.

What loads can a 5000W modified sine wave inverter run?

At 5000W continuous and 42 AC amps, this inverter can run most large household and commercial loads — refrigerators and freezers, microwave ovens, air conditioning units (check startup surge requirements), water pumps, power tools, compressors, and more simultaneously. Modified sine wave works well for most resistive and motor-driven loads. Variable-speed drives, certain medical equipment, laser printers, and sensitive audio gear may perform better on pure sine wave. Each individual outlet is UL-rated for 1500W; the AC terminal block can carry the full 5000W for hardwired loads.

What are the flat-plate DC terminals and how do I connect cables?

The flat-plate DC terminals consist of one red (positive) and one black (negative) metal plate, each with a bolt for attaching lugged cable ends. This design accepts most standard lugged cable types and allows you to connect a single cable set or stack multiple cable sets on the same terminal if needed for higher-current configurations. Keep cable runs as short as practical to minimize voltage drop. An inline ANL fuse on the positive cable run is recommended.

What does the very low switch-off draw mean for my battery?

When switched off, this inverter draws less than 0.2 milliamps from the battery — essentially zero standby drain. This means you can leave the inverter connected to your battery bank when not in use without worrying about it slowly draining your batteries over days or weeks. When switched on but running no load, the draw rises to under 1A, which is also very low for a 5000W class inverter.

What battery bank do I need for this inverter?

At 5000W from a 24V bank, DC current draw is approximately 208A at full load. A large-capacity deep-cycle AGM or lithium battery bank — typically 200Ah or more at 24V — is needed for meaningful sustained runtime. Runtime depends on your actual load; divide battery capacity in amp-hours by current draw to estimate hours of use. For solar-supplemented systems, size your panel array and charge controller to replenish the draw during the day.

What warranty and support come with this inverter?

This inverter is backed by a 2-year manufacturer warranty from date of purchase, plus free lifetime technical support from AIMS Power's tech team. As an authorized AIMS Power dealer, TrueStead Supply ensures your warranty is valid from day one.
