2,500 Watts of No-Frills Mobile Power from Any 12V Battery — Built Tough for Tools, Motors, and Hard-Start Equipment

Economical, high-output modified sine wave inverter with 5,000W surge, always-on dual fans, and a single-cable high-current terminal design — for RVs, work trucks, and off-grid systems.

The AIMS Power 2500 Watt 12V Modified Sine Inverter (PWRB2500) is an economical, no-frills DC-to-AC power inverter that converts 12V battery power into 120V / 60Hz AC electricity. Capable of running most tools, pumps, motors, and household appliances, it delivers 2,500 watts of continuous output and 5,000 watts of surge capacity without the meters, display, or remote port of the premium "with Features" model — keeping the price down for buyers who want straightforward, reliable high-output power. Its battery terminals are engineered to handle high current with a single set of cables, and the always-on dual cooling fans ensure consistent thermal performance under sustained loads.

Key Features & Benefits

High output, hard-start capability, and simplified installation — the essentials for mobile and off-grid power without unnecessary complexity or cost.

2,500W

Continuous Power with 5,000W Surge

Delivers 2,500 watts continuously at 21A AC output and 5,000 watts of surge capacity to handle the high startup draw of compressors, circular saws, pumps, and other motor-driven equipment without shutting down.

Always On

Dual Always-On Cooling Fans

Unlike thermally controlled fans that only activate at temperature thresholds, the dual fans on this unit run continuously from the moment the inverter is switched on — ensuring the internal components stay cool at all times, even under sudden high-load demands.

Single Cable

High-Current Terminal Design

The battery terminals are engineered to conduct higher current, so only one set of DC cables is required for installation — simplifying wiring, reducing connection points, and making installs cleaner in tight spaces.

90–95%

Efficient Across Load Ranges

90% efficiency at full load and 95% at one-third load keeps heat generation low and maximizes usable energy from your battery bank — critical for mobile systems where recharging opportunities may be limited.

Auto

Protection & Auto Reset

Over-temperature shutdown at 55°C (±5°C), overload protection, AC short-circuit protection, high input voltage protection (15–17V), low-voltage alarm at 10.5V, and auto shutdown at 10V — with auto reset on most fault conditions.

No Meters, No Remote Port — Just Output and Protection

The PWRB2500 deliberately omits the front-panel volt and amp meters, LED fault indicators, and remote on/off port found on the "with Features" PWRINV250012W model. For buyers who don't need those features and prefer a lower upfront cost, this is the better choice. If live battery monitoring or remote switching is important to your installation, see the AIMS Power 2500W with Features model instead.

Note on modified sine wave: This inverter produces a modified sine wave with phase correction, suitable for most resistive loads, tools, pumps, motors, and standard appliances. Some sensitive electronics — including certain TVs, audio equipment, and variable-speed motor controls — may experience interference or reduced performance. If you need clean power for sensitive devices, consider AIMS Power's pure sine wave inverter line.

AIMS Power PWRB2500 — Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from the AIMS Power 2500W "with Features" model?

The PWRB2500 is the no-frills version. It omits the front-panel volt and amp meters, dedicated overload and over-temperature LED indicators, and the pre-wired remote on/off port found on the PWRINV250012W "with Features" model. It also has two AC outlets instead of four, and the fans run continuously rather than thermally activating on demand — which means the fans are always on when the inverter is switched on, adding a modest 2.5A no-load current draw. The trade-off is a lower unit price and lighter weight (6.1 lbs vs. 10 lbs). Choose this model if you don't need monitoring or remote switching; choose the "with Features" model if you do.

Why do the fans run all the time, and will that drain my battery?

The dual fans on this model run continuously whenever the inverter is switched on — unlike thermally controlled fans that only activate above a temperature threshold. This ensures consistent internal cooling regardless of load level. The trade-off is a no-load current draw of 2.5A, which will gradually drain your battery if the inverter is left on with no load connected. Switch the inverter off when not in use to avoid unnecessary battery drain. If you prefer thermally controlled fans, the AIMS Power PWRINV250012W "with Features" model uses a single thermally controlled fan instead.

What fuse and cable size do I need?

AIMS Power specifies a 200-amp inline fuse for this inverter, sold separately. The recommended cable size is 1/0 AWG. At full load, the inverter draws 208A DC from the battery — undersized cables will generate dangerous heat and voltage drop. Use properly rated cables and ensure all connections are secure and corrosion-free. AIMS Power sells compatible inline fuse kits and UL-listed cables.

What can I run on 2,500 watts with 5,000W surge?

At 2,500 watts continuous, you can run most household appliances and power tools — a microwave, circular saw, power drill, small refrigerator, sump pump, or multiple smaller devices across the two outlets (or use a splitter for additional connections). The 5,000-watt surge handles the brief high-current startup spike of motor-driven equipment. Each outlet is UL-rated for a maximum of 1,500 watts — do not exceed this per outlet even if total load is under 2,500 watts.

What battery bank do I need for this inverter?

At full 2,500W load, DC draw is approximately 208A from a 12V battery. A single starting battery will not sustain this — a dedicated deep-cycle battery bank is required for anything beyond very brief use. Size the bank to your expected run time and daily watt-hour load. The inverter's low-voltage alarm (10.5V) and shutdown (10.0V) will protect the battery from deep discharge, but a properly sized bank ensures meaningful runtime before those thresholds are reached.

Can I add more outlets to this inverter?

Yes. The inverter has two AC outlets. If you need more connections, plug a standard outlet splitter or power strip into one of the outlets. Keep in mind that the total combined load across all connected devices must not exceed 2,500 watts, and each individual outlet should not exceed 1,500 watts per the UL recommendation.

What is modified sine wave and does it affect my devices?

This inverter produces a modified sine wave with phase correction — a stepped AC waveform that works well for most resistive loads, power tools, pumps, motors, and standard appliances. Some sensitive electronics — certain televisions, audio equipment, medical devices, and variable-speed drives — may experience interference or reduced performance. If you need clean utility-quality power for sensitive equipment, consider AIMS Power's pure sine wave inverter line.

Does this inverter have a remote on/off port?

No. The PWRB2500 does not include a remote on/off port. If remote switching is important for your installation, the AIMS Power 2500W with Features model (PWRINV250012W) includes a pre-wired remote port that accepts the optional AIMS Power remote on/off switch.
